Personal Video Recorder - PVR

The personal video recorder is also know as a PVR. There are several brands of personal video recorders including:

• Tivo
• Replay
• UltimateTV

Tivo and ReplayTV were the first PVR's. Microsoft developed UltimateTV which is the fist PVR to offer:

• recording of two channels at the same time

How Does PVR Work?

The Personal Video Recorder has its own hard drive- just like the one in your computer. This hard drive can hold many hours of television programs. With the touch of a button- you can instantly watch any of the television programs you have recorded on your PVR.

• No more tapes to rewind
• No more searching for the start of your next soap

Pause Live Television
with your PVR

Here's all you do-

1. Press the Pause button on your PVR and the action freezes on your TV
2. Press the Play button and continue to watch that show, soap or game

Here's what your PVR does-

• When you press Pause your Personal Video Recorder immediately starts recording that show onto its hard drive.
  

Rewind Live TV with PVR

The PVR is always recording about an hour of the show you are tuned to. If you miss the big play- just press Rewind on your PVR.
